Crunchy roll is just a money funnel
Crunchy roll is just a money funnel. Half of their 'anime' isn't even available to watch or is censored to the point that the entire screen is blocked out. And forget about support, they never respond and just blow people off. On top of all that the seasons are mislabeled or missing parts, leaving you with season two, then four, or just one season in the middle. Even after all that the schedules for streaming releases doesn't work. . .honestly, it's just a heaping pile of dung now. It's a real shame too.

One Big Mess of a Late Order
Not too long ago Crunchyroll had a massive sale, so I ended up putting in an order. Time goes by, nothing. So while I was ok not having gotten it, I thought it strange to not have gotten a shipped email or other notice about it.
So I contact customer support. Took a decent while to get back to me and then I was simply told to please wait another two weeks for it to arrive. With myself thinking, ......I haven't even gotten a shipped email though.
Time passes and still no shipped email. So I send another email in to customer support. Again, it took a while to get a response. However this time I was also told that they were moving warehouses and to AGAIN wait another 2 weeks to receive my order.
......which really? Great time to move warehouses when you're having this major sale. Why?
So time passes and I finally get that shipped email. More times passes and I finally get my order.
Except....there was an item missing.
I get into contact with customer service just to eventually be told sorry, the item was out of stock and have the matter brushed away with a forced refund.
In the shipped email, I was told EVERYTHING shipped. The invoice with the box said all the items were in the order. If the item was over bought during the sale, there was no indication of it. In fact even a few days later the item was still available on Crunchyroll's site. There was no heads up when shipping that the item was out of stock and it wasn't going to be shipped. And I can't help but wonder in all that time my order was up in the air, it was then it sold out. And the tardiness in dealing with my order caused the mess up.
I don't know. I just can't help but think this merger with Funimation is only going to cause more issues for people. Be careful of ordering from Crunchyroll.

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS COMPANY
I had never heard of this site before, but my granddaughter wanted something for her birthday, so I placed an order a week ago. I have checked daily for shipping status and have not seen anything. I have contacted them 3 times through their website, as there is no customer service phone number. I placed an order with amazon the same day and it was here in 2 days. I can't get a reply via email. Do not recommend this company for purchases. My granddaughter's party is this weekend, almost two weeks from order date and I will not have what she wants because it cost $50.00 and I can't just run out and find something else. I am very upset.

DON'T BUY FROM THEIR STORE
I pre ordered from thier store, 2 different orders, both are pre-orders.
1st order only half of it was sent. Few months later I ask where the 2nd half is, "Oh yeah that figure is no longer in stock. Here's a refund." 2nd order, it's the release month, I ask where is it?"We're moving warehouses, we had stock issues, no longer can fulfill the order. Here's a refund." I waited almost 2 years for this figure just to get refunded. Absolute dog crap at stock and orders.

Free version is full of ads
Free version is full of ads, 3 ads every episode, are you mad, people? i do understand it's free, but at least 3 mins of ads every episode + 1 at the beginning it's pure madness!!!!
I hate to say it, but, there are many "free ads" alternatives around, if you want to watch anime....

Fraudulent billing & no refund in sight
I was never a customer or had ever heard of crunchyroll before this incident …
They allowed a fake account ( from Mexico )using my credit card details to make purchases
I was billed for something I didn't sign up for or even knew about
At first their customer service agent was very helpful ( named Asia )
Promising swift action to traced / block & refund me due to this being their error
Weeks passed , no refund
On follow up was advised the refund would happen via PayPal ( due to me cancelling the affected credit card )
Still nothing 2 months down the line …
No landline to contact crunchyroll on
Only via their website enquiry mail ….
I am being Totally ignored email after email ..
What can I do ??

Nothing works properly
Videos kept throwing up SHAK-3016 errors for more than a week, interrupting playing after about 10 seconds and needing a refresh. I followed their instructions and this didn't fix it. They then acknowledged it was an ONGOING issue with their website that is affecting a lot of people.
Now, and for the last 3 days, most of the time videos fail to load at all. I've stayed in contact with support since reporting the SHAK-3016 issue, but support have been singularly UNhelpful. Support have acknowledged it's a widespread issue and not to do with my device, but have since gone silent about any kind of expected fix, how long this can be expected to continue, or refunding me my subscription fee for this month as a gesture of good will considering I am completely unable to use their service.
The issues seem to be related to them trying to put a "skip intro" button in, so the obvious fix is to roll back recent changes to when the site was last stable (beginning of September), however providing a good quality of service seems to be the very last thing CR care about.
Totally disgusted with their "lack" of service right now. Renewal is on the 12th, but I doubt I'll wait that long to cancel my sub.

I spent 3 hours trying to stream on my…
I spent 3 hours trying to stream on my TV and none of the videos worked. They would try and load and NOTHING would show up. All I get is some crazy circle showing me it's trying to load but nothing ever shows up. I use HULU, YouTube, etc. on the same TV so I know its not my connection. What a joke a streaming service where nothing streams. Worse streaming service.

First time doing a review
First time doing a review.
I bought 5 tshirts from their shop. Bit expensive but i dont mind if its good quality.
Got shipping notifikation on 2 june.
On 23 June i got an email, how was the tshirts?
I asked why? I havent goten any. They said its still in transit.
I asked again 7 aug. When i get the info that they lose it.
Fedex deny and says they havent even sent it.
I paid the customs which Fedex nor Crunchyroll wants to stand up and pay for.
Its been a headache and i paid for nothing. Litterly nothing.
If this is normal i would never buy anything from this shop.

The least bad (but still bad) option
I've been a subscribing member of Crunchyroll (CR) for years because it's the only place I can mostly-reliably access the content I want.
My subscription was due for renewal and the inability to renew the service as desired—tier 2, megafan subscription paid annually—prompted this review because it got me thinking about all the other lousy experiences I've had with the service.
Before renewing (a different plan than the one I wanted), I spent a healthy amount of time looking for other options; if there were a different, reliable way to access the content I want I would use it, but there isn't (so, if you're an entrepreneur reading this: hey, business opportunity).
I grudgingly accept that, for me, access to the content is worth the cost of having to do business with CR, but it is a real cost. The reason so many reviewers describe CR as taking hostages is because CR punishes customers for using their service.
Here are some examples of CR demonstrating it doesn't care about positive customer experiences:
1. The free version of their service uses ads punitively to make non-subscribed viewing as painful as possible (e.g., if you pause or move within a video you'll get hit with a huge block of ads before the video resumes).
2. While the "fan" service (apologies) allows for annual billing (discounted from month-over-month billing) the other, nominally higher tiered subscription packages, do not (for US viewers). Because of reasons.
3. If you have an active subscription, you cannot move from one subscription model to another. Again, because of reasons.
4. Shows frequently display that they have a "new season," when what they really have is a new language dub of an existing season.
5. CR does not clearly communicate to customers what shows (or parts of shows) leave its platform or when (so valued content disappears sporadically).
6. Working with customer service to address the most basic concerns is an exercise in futility: if you manage to reach someone, they will acknowledge that they are being talked at but have neither the interest nor the ability to solve customer problems.
7. Unless you are from California and opt out (only CA residents can), CR treats its customers as products to sell to 3rd parties (your information WILL be sold).
8. Lastly, and you need not take my word for it (use the 2-week premium trial and see for yourself), a visit to the CR forums is eye-opening. Forum members are subscribed members. Whenever conversation moves from a show to the platform itself, opinions are overwhelmingly negative and describe a firm belief that CR doesn't care about its customers and is unlikely to change.

Was fine at first but now the service…
Was fine at first but now the service has become terrible. Episodes I try and watch constantly freeze and buffer and then crash. Have contacted them a few times and keep getting the response. We are working on it. It has been 2 weeks and the same problem continues. They've given me 2 free vouchers but they're pointless if you can't even watch what you want to watch. I am considering cancelling and looking elsewhere for anime shows.

This company is by far the worst I have ever handed money to. I try and use the services I pay for and get rate limited, think of a good show to watch and it isn't available in my region. If I could give a 0/5 score I would.

This company couldn't code a piece of software if google gave them the whole code base.
Their application is shockingly bad, the worst on the web to my knowledge. Features, you can't even get that far since you will be routing through 15-20 listings of the same title because they don't know what a drop down box is. Instead listing each language as a separate season.
Their bandwidth allocation is appalling leading to constant buffering during episodes. Completely random and completely stops you from watching anything when it happens (1gb line in my house, so its not on my side)
This company is completely rubbish.

Fantastic service. For the price you pay it's absolutely amazing. You get loads of series ranging all through the genres. Plus they're the first company I've ever come across to REDUCE the price of membership. Brilliant service.

Terrible
The app for mobile as well as roku, and pc are just a terrible mess. The store is terrible about shipping and when items arrive damaged, they claim no responsibility and will do nothing for you. 5 out of 5 items I've ordered were damaged. Customer service is nonexistent.. trash

Crunchy roll is incompetent
Crunchy roll is a terrible service. Their catalogue is more than impressive, however to say that they just recently bought out their biggest competition (funimation) their refusal to upgrade their servers is completely laughable. There's no excuse for a service as huge and, at this point, monopolistic as them to destroy their competition and not even bother to try to take on the new customers that will inevitably come with their choices is baffling and shows why they aren't a service worth subscribing too

They're forcing us from Funimation to…
They're forcing us from Funimation to Crunchyroll, with the price being almost double ($5.99 to $9.99) and unlike what they've said, have not transferred the whole library over yet. Some shows are missing half the dub's that funimation has (jobless reincarnation missing half a season), and some shows are missing completely (She Professed Herself Pupil of the Wise Man). I wish companies (sony) would get everything ready before making a massive switch on us.

Annoying
I recently renewed my premium membership because I was tired of watching 12+ ads on every episode. However, once I did this, I lost the series I had been watching, and now it is only available in 'dubbed'.
I fail to see why having a membership has affected this feature, but I personally struggle to watch dubbed anime and therefore believe the membership to be a waste of money.

Your app is a piece of shi
Your app is a piece of shi. To require someone to have premium to even do anything is a load of shi. I was fine with the ad breaks even though they're forking annoying and often fuk up and keep repeating ads, but now you give me the option to have a 30 second ad and then go to my show and instead I get 120 secs of ads AFTER that with my anime's subtitles. I'm fed up with your shi, and you're not getting my money. Have fun losing business. :D
